In their report “The Economic Consequences of Outdoor Air Pollution” (June 2016), the OECD provides a dire picture of the heavy toll that outdoor air pollution is taking on us.
The publication provides an outlook on how air pollution causes serious illnesses, premature deaths and how it will impact crops over the coming decades.
The numbers are shocking:
– Until 2060, one percent of global GDP is expected to be lost due to outdoor air pollution
– More than 3 million premature deaths per year are caused by air pollution
